Dickey's BBQ Pit

We haven't found many good BBQ spots in St. Louis. One would think that being so close to KC we would have somewhat above average BBQ. St. Louis does a great job of promoting and selling pork, but not ribs, rather pork steak. We have been very disappointed and feel as though CA and TX could beat St. Louis at anytime in a BBQ contest.

However, one Sunday afternoon our taste buds were craving a BBQ Beef sandwich and so we pulled into a new restaurant off of Hwy 44 and 141 - Dickey's BBQ Pit. Dickey's has a very casual atmosphere and is a great place to get it "to go". Originally out of Texas, and as mentioned above, Texas did beat St. Louis BBQ. In fact we prefer it over local franchise Bandana's for not only the BBQ Beef Sandwich but the prices as well. Dickey's offers free soft serve ice cream on location and kid's eat free on Sundays.

Favorites:
BBQ Sliced Beef Sandwich
Sliced Turkey Sandwich -- so juicy it melts in your mouth!
Potato Salad
Fried Okra - lightly well-seasoned cornmeal breading

Rating:
Price Range: $5 - $10

Location:
932 Meremac Station Rd.
Valley Park, MO

Jana, here. I'd like to add to Kim's posting that the beef served there is BRISKET...not roast or beef "parts". It's sliced brisket, served dry, but you can add the sauce. Any native Texan looking for some good smoked brisket will find it at Dickey's. Hopefully we'll find some more good spots for BBQ. Keep checking back cuz we like to eat! :)
